Session recording

Every session is recorded as a video you can replay from the dashboard's Sessions page — no code, nothing to install. Use it to see what went wrong at step 7, to show a run to someone else, or to keep evidence of what a page displayed.

What is recorded

Fill the frame in headful sessions: Playwright sizes each context's window to its viewport (1280×720 by default), so a headful recording shows that window on a larger desktop. Create contexts with viewport: null (Python no_viewport=True) and the page uses the whole display (screen_size, 1920×1080 by default) — in recordings and in live view. Headless recordings capture the page itself and always fill the frame.

Free, and recording plans

When an account's recordings exceed its minutes, the oldest are deleted first; anything older than the retention period is deleted too. A recording plan is a monthly subscription priced from the storage it can hold — choose the limits and the video quality under Sessions → Session Recording Settings and the price is shown before you pay. Sessions themselves stay listed there for 30 days either way.

Watching and downloading

Each recorded session has a ▶ Video button in Recent sessions and on the Sessions page. Videos stream from a private, short-lived link (15 minutes) and can be downloaded. Over the API: GET /v1/me/recordings lists them and GET /v1/me/recordings/{id}/url returns a link; DELETE /v1/me/recordings/{id} deletes one at once.

Videos are H.264 MP4 at one frame per second: 854×480 (about 1–1.3 MB per minute, so the free 15 minutes are roughly 18 MB), or 1280×720 (about 2–2.5 MB per minute) / 1920×1080 (about 4 MB per minute) on a recording plan with 720p or 1080p. Headless sessions are recorded at the page's own size, scaled to fit: for sharp 1080p, give the context a 1920×1080 viewport — the default 1280×720 page is no sharper than 720p.

Privacy

A recording shows whatever the browser displayed, including personal data on the pages your sessions visit. Recordings are stored encrypted in transit and private in our object storage in Germany, visible only to your account, and deleted on the schedule above. If your sessions handle sensitive pages, launch them with "record": false. See the Privacy Policy.
